Hillcrest has been working our way through Max Lucado and Jerry Frazee's view of The Story of God's redemption. The Story is a condensed version of The Story of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Last Sunday, January 25, we studied the prophet Jeremiah and discussed a very important anniversary in the life of this country
January 22, 2015 was a very important day and is relevant because God spoke to Jeremiah and said:
5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5
January22, marked the 42nd anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision which made abortions legal in the United States. In essence it allowed the killing of unborn children in the womb. Since Roe v. Wade there have been approximately 55,772,015 unborn babies killed. As the people of God we must cultivate a culture of life, not a culture of death.
There may be some who read this blog that have either had an abortion or maybe even counseled someone to have an abortion. I don’t want to cause anyone any more pain than they have previously been through. We all are sinners, in need of a Savior, and I've got my own messes that need cleaning up. I know this for sure, this verse along with a whole lot of other verses tell me that life begins in the womb. It’s not just a medical procedure, it’s a baby.
